Green I.T.

In today's ever changing climate, there is a lot of talk and not a lot of action around Green IT. We are currently working towards their aim of becoming Carbon Neutral, while still having an adaptive and growing infrastructure to continue with our high level of service to our clients.

We have already implemented the following:

• Centrailised and consolidated Servers and Storage utilising the latest blade and SAN technology.
• Vmware to reduce the number of physical servers we need.
• All Applications from our Surbiton head office, utilising WAN optimisation and acceleration technologies to make sure all applications act like they are on the LAN.
• Video conferencing facilities between all 4 offices in 3 countries to reduce unnecessary air travel, again utilising WAN optimisation technologies to monitor and guarantee QOS during calls, saving over 20 tonnes of CO2 per year.
• VoiP running between all 4 sites so no need for local PABX or IT support
• The option for our clients to receive electronic copies of their invoices rather than paper

What we are looking at implementing:

• A secure e-procurement portal allowing our customers to place orders online without the need to send us the PO.
• A partnership to offset at least 200 tonnes per year of CO2 with UK Tree plantations.
• Investing in renewable energy sources.
